Edgar Loudermilk is a Georgia-born bluegrass musician and bandleader whose artistry has earned him consecutive SPBGMA “Bass Fiddle Performer of the Year” awards in 2023 and 2024, as well as the 2024 Josie Music Awards “Bass Player of the Year” title and recognition as the 2016 BMAI Male Vocalist of the Year. As the driving force behind the Edgar Loudermilk Band, he blends traditional Appalachian and contemporary bluegrass with a melodic sensibility that highlights both his virtuosic bass playing and his commanding tenor vocals. With more than two decades of performing across the East Tennessee region and beyond, Edgar has developed a repertoire that spans soulful originals, inventive arrangements, and heartfelt interpretations of classic tunes, exemplified in albums such as Lonesome Riverboat Blues and The Dark Side of Lonesome. His musicianship emphasizes storytelling, rhythmic precision, and dynamic interplay with his band, creating performances that are both technically impressive and emotionally resonant. Edgar Loudermilk continues to tour nationally and in Canada, establishing himself as a respected figure in modern bluegrass and a passionate ambassador for the genre’s enduring traditions.
